Dear Parents of Graduating Seniors and Early Graduates:

On Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. Highland High School will celebrate its 61st Commencement Exercises at the University of Utah’s Huntsman Center.  There are no tickets required and plenty of seating will be available.

Graduating from high school is a very important step in the life, for everyone involved.  It is a time of happiness and joy for students, their parents, their relatives, as well as the teachers and staff at Highland High.  It is also a time to reflect on the past and take a moment to look forward to the future.

Please encourage your student to clear all absences, tardies, and fines; we require these to be completed by May 31, 2019 to ensure your student’s participation in the graduation ceremony.

Students should arrive at the Huntsman Center by 6:00pm to take pictures with family and friends. Line-up will begin at 6:20pm.  It is very important that you arrive on time and take pictures beforehand; graduates will be returning their cap and gown before leaving the arena after the commencement exercises.  Just a reminder that leis are not allowed on the graduation floor due to new Huntsman Center regulations.

On behalf of the faculty and the Class of 2019, I would like to request your assistance in helping to make the ceremony proceed smoothly. We ask that all spectators be in their seats by 6:50pm, as the processional begins promptly at 7:00pm. Please be respectful to our graduates and refrain from using air-horns, noisemakers, or other objects of distraction. Please refrain from using any type of confetti (If confetti is used, there will be a fine to cover our clean up fee - see U of U Graduation Day Information). To ensure that all names will be heard, please hold all applause and cheers until all graduates’ names have been announced. We want to provide a commencement ceremony our students and community can remember with pride.

On behalf of Highland High School’s faculty and staff, I want to express appreciation to each of you for the trust, support, and confidence you have shown by allowing your student to be educated at Highland High School.  We extend our best wishes to all the graduates and their families. Go Rams!

              Sincerely,

              Chris Jenson

              Principal
